We started the podcast hoping to help as many first gen students going through or getting ready for college. To First Gens

Oftentimes as First Generation college students we feel like we are alone in this journey. However, this could not be further from the truth. There are many that are about to embark on this journey, many going through the evolution now, and many that have come before and have reached the goal of a college diploma that has opened the doors to vast new opportunities. Join us to build a community of first gen students as we explore topics related to the college process, finances, academics, social capital, and wellbeing associated with being first gen. Give us a listen- you are not alone!  

For Parents: 

Parents- we know that this is a difficult journey for you to navigate as your child embarks into so many unknowns. Give us a listen to hear the roles other parents have played in their journey.  You too can support your children in reaching their dreams and aspirations- your child needs you in this critical time! 

For High School Counselors: 

How to College: First Gen is a one of the few podcasts that provides a platform for high school students to explore their thoughts and ideas on the process of becoming the first ones in their families to attend college. Most of our episodes will begin with a high school student who is preparing to embark on this transformation journey. Join us and tell your students to give us a listen as they explore their college journey. 

For High Ed Administrators:

Many times supporting first generation college students can be hard and confusing, especially if you are not a first generation college student yourself in higher ed. However, we hope that this podcast helps to inform and democratize information about being a first gen student so that you can better support your students as they go through college. We believe that higher ed administration plays a critical role in supporting more first generation college students’ experience so join us through the journey! 

For Friends of First Gens: 

Although this podcast focuses on the first-gen experience, we know several of the topics we discuss are not solely experienced by first-gens.
