In this episode, Luz chats with fellow first generation college students about their approach to financing their college education with scholarships and some of the tips they offer to help students with finding and applying to scholarships as well as additional benefits that can come from the scholarship application process.

In this episode you will hear from:

-High School Student Mohamed who breaks down some of the typical components of scholarships and offers great tips for getting into the groove of applying such as building relationships, asking your peer groups for help, and removing self-doubt. No matter the outcome of any one scholarship he knows that with each one there is always self-improvement.

-College Student Jennifer who really got into applying to scholarships while in college and primarily learned about opportunities through word of mouth from peers and mentors who offered recommendations and advice. Additionally she found that aside from the funding component, scholarships can be extremely valuable for tapping into additional benefits including networking, mentorship and internship programs, and conferences.

-Current graduate student Heather who talks about her decision to go to grad school to pursue multiple masters degrees, how the cost of higher education affected her decisions, and the steps she took to prepare herself to receive the most funding she could from the schools she applied to.
